How We Work
Thank you for your interest in joining Cary Gallery of Artists. CGA is a NC nonprofit organization operating as a cooperative of artists who contribute equally to the operation of the gallery. We strive for professional representation of high quality 2-D and 3-D original art work by our member artists.

As a member of this diverse cooperative community of artists you gain support for your personal artistic growth, valuable networking opportunities, exposure to a variety of clientele, and skills in various aspects of gallery operations, and you keep more of the sales price of your work.

Our member-year runs from September through August. We have full- and half-display space memberships. The full rate is $734 per year and the half is $419 per year, payable upfront. This fee is prorated for mid-year openings. Our sales commission is 20% to cover operating expenses. All members are required to work in the gallery a minimum of seven (7) hours per month. This may be completed in one full day or two half-day scheduling blocks. Also, members are required to be active contributors to the functions necessary to run this business, including committee work such as Events, Display, Marketing, Operations, etc.

The first step in the application process is submission of online application. Upon request, the next step is the submission of five (5) samples of artwork to be brought to the gallery for jurying by the members.

We accept applications with a $25 processing fee (applied to dues if accepted for membership) throughout the year to be kept on file for mid-year and member-year openings. Mid-year openings are filled as needed. Member-year openings are filled as follows: receipt of completed applications and fee by May 31, interviews and artwork reviews during June and July, notification of review results by the last week of July, payment-in-full to accept membership within seven days of approval.
Training takes place in the first month of membership. Each new member artist is paired with an experienced member artist who serves as their coach and mentor. Note: You must have your own e-mail account and Google login, in order to keep abreast of gallery activities, important messages, and conduct gallery business.

If you have any questions please contact the gallery by phone or email at membership@carygallery.org.
